Ditch the Yo-Yo Diet Culture
TETON DIETETICS IS YOUR WAY OUT.
Hi there!
I’m Alexy Green Nelson, registered dietitian nutritionist and owner of Teton Dietetics.
I understand Teton Valley. Why? I grew up here. So did my husband. Our parents grew up here, too. And our grandparents. And our great-grandparents. And our great-great-grandparents. You get it. We know all about snow on the 4th of July. My husband is a PRCA bareback athlete, and we’re fortunate to raise our kids in Teton Valley.
I love the outdoors, especially exploring this beautiful place on horseback. I’m a skilled bowhunter and rifle hunter because I want my family’s diet to be natural and healthy. Of course, I’m the registered dietitian at hunting camp, too, which makes me the designated camp cook.
I love Teton Valley people and want them to live their healthiest lives.
I provide medical nutrition therapy. I have a unique appreciation and understanding of our community and the unique health demands and challenges that we face here. Contact me to see if we would be a good fit!
Why do you need a dietitian nutritionist?
Because eating healthy doesn’t have to be hard.
There’s so much diet misinformation out there, and we've been bombarded with diet culture our entire lives. I’ll help you clear the diet culture haze and teach you how to fuel your body in scientifically proven ways.
Let’s separate fact from fiction.
I’ll help you clarify what your body needs for optimum health. This is what I know:
IT’S POSSIBLE.
I WILL HELP YOU.
YOU CAN DO THIS.
I’m a registered dietitian nutritionist.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE? Education, Training, & Licensure (Um … they’re important.)
I graduated with a degree in dietetics from the University of Wyoming.
IN MOST STATES, A NUTRITIONIST DOESN’T HAVE A DEGREE REQUIREMENT
I completed a 1200-hour supervised practice internship with Utah State University. I completed rotations in three hospitals, a senior care facility, a WIC clinic, and a school district office.
IN MANY STATES, A NUTRITIONIST DOESN’T COMPLETE AN INTERNSHIP.
I’m licensed with the State Board of Medicine. Licensure requires dietitians to complete continuing education credits each year to stay current with research and best practices.
IN MOST STATES, A NUTRITIONIST DOESN’T HAVE TO LICENSE AND HAS NO CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT.
I have experience in nutrition counseling with people of all ages and from diverse situations.
IN MANY STATES, A NUTRITIONIST ISN’T REQUIRED TO HAVE A DIVERSE COUNSELING BACKGROUND.
Diets don’t work …
Fad diets, restrictive eating habits, and food shaming leave you feeling exhausted and defeated.
